Faith, Interfaith and the Search for Peace
Bishop MunibYounan, former president of the Lutheran World Federation, and a president of Religions for Peace, is a Sunhak Peace Prize Laureate, honored for his many decades of service to the promotion of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue and cooperation. A Palestinian Lutheran based in Jerusalem, Bishop Younan has been instrumental in promoting Lutheran-Catholic dialogue and reconciliation, culminating in an historic meeting with Pope Francis. His work throughout the Middle East has earned the respect of millions as he has built bridges among Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Druze populations.
Our program will include several additional panelists, along with a group of graduate students from UTS, engaged in exploring with Bishop Younan the important relationship between religion and peace, highlighting the importance of interreligious dialogue as an instrument of promoting mutual respect, understanding and recognition of shared values and ideals.
