On July 27th 2019, the Unification Theological Seminary (UTS) organized an Open House at its 4W43 Street New York City Main Campus.
The program started at 2:00pm with Carla Angeline Mongado, a prospective UTS student, offering a beautiful song “Breathe”, from In the Heights, the musical.
Dr. Spurgin (UTS’77), the UTS president offered opening remarks. He shared the mission of UTS with participants, encouraging them to become leaders who bridge the divides in this world full of conflicts. Dr Spurgin carries the following card in his wallet:
10 potential students attended the program, with two of those already accepted for next semester.
Dr. Drissa Kone (UTS’12, DMin’16), Director of Enrollment Management and Assistant Professor in Ministry shared his experience. He gave an introduction to the course he will be teaching in the upcoming Fall semester, Ecumenism and Interfaith. According to Dr. Kone, an important skill that students will learn in his course is to dialogue with those who do not share their own worldview.
Participants asked questions related to financial aid, the different degree programs and the UTS Online program. All questions were answered by Mrs. Joy Theriot the Director of Student Life and Interfaith Outreach, and Mr. EJ Rapada (UTS’17) the Director of Recruitment and Marketing. The program ended with a light refreshments and a campus tour. The next Open House has been scheduled for October 24th 2019.
