UTS Opened Doors for Myself, and Others

UTS opened two big doors for me—one from behind and one in front, and a lot of windows too.

I joined the unification family in 1973 just six months away from getting my bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the University of Utah. After three and a half years of studying in Salt Lake City while on a swimming scholarship I decided to leave school and join the Unification Church. I have never regretted that offering.

Life at Barrytown by Dan Fefferman (UTS’86)

UTS was a Mecca for me, a place where God allowed me to absorb the knowledge of the Christian centuries in preparation to return to the mission field strengthened and enriched.

UTS Through Students' Eyes

In the midst of election campaigns in the US and around the world, UTS (Barrytown campus) held its own Student Council election for the new academic year 2008 to 2009, on April 10th.

The spirit of the election throughout the day was both high and bright.

Barbara Robertson, Emmanuel Tanui, and Kate Korda were the candidates for President, while Alexander Zamunsinski and Monyrinth Lean were up for the office of Senior Class Representative. Each candidate had a chance to address the student body and genuinely expound on their vision and goals for the Student Council throughout the next year.

Ninety percent of the votes were in by the evening at 7:00 pm. Votes were counted publicly following President Tyler Hendricks’ opening remarks. The result made history, as Barbara Robertson was elected first-ever woman Student Council President at UTS. Of course the Dean of Students, Mrs. Sun-hee Davies, was first one to grab the microphone and happily congratulate Barbara.

Election for Senior Representative was even more competitive. Alexander got 24 votes out of 49, and Monyrith 25 votes, thereby winning by just one vote!

The election was concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Hendricks and a big applause for all candidates as well as new elected and appointed officers.

Congratulations to the new student Council 2008-09: Barbara Robertson (President), Emmanuel Tanui (Vice President), Kate Korda (Master of Divinity Representative), and Monyrith Lean (Senior Representative).
