HSAUWC Board Reaffirms Commitment to UTS and Barrytown College of UTS

We are pleased to announce that, at its June 21 meeting in San Francisco, the HSAUWC board of directors reaffirmed its commitment to the growth and success of UTS and its undergraduate program, Barrytown College, and its graduate school offering 3 distinct Masters programs and a Doctoral program.

May is here and that means it is time for graduation! This year, the Unification Theological Seminary celebrated its 38th graduating class on Saturday, May 24th at its New York City campus.

Dr. Lonnie McLeodOn July 1, 2008, Dr. Lonnie McLeod was appointed Dean of the New York City Extension of Unification Theological Seminary. Dr. McLeod has been serving as the seminary's Director of Ecumenical Recruitment and Advancement, as well as adjunct professor.

Dr. McLeod is the pastor of the Church of the Living Hope in East Harlem, New York. Past Moderator and Past Dean of the Metropolitan Association of the United Church of Christ, Inc., and former adjunct professor at New York Theological Seminary, Dr. McLeod is the President of the Exodus Transitional Community, an organization featured in the 2004 State of the Union Address as a best practice model and Faith Based Initiative that should be duplicated nationally. He is a National Facilitator and trainer for the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (NABCJ) the National Religious Affairs Association (NRAA) and an Executive Committee Member of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC).

Dr. McLeod has preached and lectured in Jerusalem, Vatican City in Rome, France, Hawaii, Jamaica and countless cities and states in North America. He graduated (cum laude) from Marist College with a B. A. in Political Science. He received a Masters of Professional Studies, a Masters of Divinity (valedictorian), and a Doctorate in Ministry from New York Theological Seminary. He is a member of the prestigious fraternity, Sigma Pi Phi (the Boule).

UTS will formally welcome Dr. McLeod as the new Dean, at an "evening with the Dean" on Friday, September 19, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
